Raju enters service
Raju is the latest patrol vessel of Estonian Police and Border Guard Board designed and built by Estonian shipyard Baltic Workboats. She is not only a patrol vessel, but also a Search & Rescue (SAR) vessel, a Firefighting (FiFi) ship and an oil-spill recovery vessel.
Raju has a pair of MTU 16V4000M63 marine diesels as main engines propelling her as fast as 27 knots. However, for this particular vessel Baltic Workboats joined forces with Danfoss Editron team and the result is a true hybrid ship! She has a pair of electric motors coupled to her ZF9300 marine gearboxes powered either by a pair of Volvo Penta marine gensets or a containerised battery bank allowing her to go fully silent (electric) for a number of hours.
We wish Raju - a truly modern and environment-friendly ship - safe seas and many happy miles!
